Health Clinic

Coker students may consult with a registered nurse and receive basic first aid free-of-charge.

Comprehensive medical exams are provided in partnership with Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, which accepts most insurance plans and offers a sliding scale payment option for those who are uninsured. Insured students should bring their insurance card with them when visiting the clinic.

Walk-ins are welcome and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. To cut down on wait times and ensure practitioner availability, we recommend scheduling an appointment whenever possible.

The Center for Health & Wellness is a resource for everyone at Coker! While counseling sessions are reserved exclusively for Coker students, the medical professionals and services offered in the Center’s health clinic are available to Coker employees and their families, as well as our student body.

Student records are kept strictly confidential in compliance with state and federal law, including FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

Student records cannot be released or disclosed without written consent of the patient/client except under the following conditions:

In the event of a health or safety emergency
Threat of harm to self or others
Suspected child abuse
Suspected abuse of elderly or disabled
Court order or subpoena

Our Campus Safety officers have a direct line to EMS, and can dispatch emergency assistance to your exact campus location.

All residential students must complete and submit the following:

• Coker University Immunization Status Form
• Tuberculin skin test (PPD)/IGRA test (if needed as determined in the Immunization form)
  • Tuberculin Skin Test Form
  • Interferon Gamma Release Assay form (IGRA)

• Hepatitis A (2 doses)
• Hepatitis B (3 doses)
• Varicella (chicken pox)-(2 doses)
• Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) (3 doses)
• Influenza (flu)
• Meningitis
• COVID-19

If you are seeking an immunization exemptions for religious or medical reasons, please contact Coker University Residence Life Office at 843-383-8360 for the Immuization Exemptions form. Any medical contraindications should be documented by your religious leader or a health care provider.
